Why develop a Masterplan?
The Frankton landscape has been developing at an unprecedented pace putting sustained pressure on existing facilities and infrastructure. This has resulted in a number of challenges for the people who live, work and play in the area, and also those who use it as a gateway to travel through.
Frankton needs to function in a multitude of ways for a multitude of purposes. It is a critical gateway for a growing number of residents and visitors, and equally as important, it is a centre for commercial and industrial activity, community facilities, recreation and social services.
The Masterplan process will take a holistic view of Frankton and consider options to ensure it remains liveable now and in the future. It will also include a preferred programme of transport improvements to ensure good access both to and through Frankton.
The focus area along with the outlying areas that will influence the plan is illustrated below.
