New Commercial Role at Queenstown Airport
- Date:
- Jan 31, 2007
Anticipated growth and the need for strong strategic planning into the future has seen the Queenstown Airport Corporation identify the need for a new role to complement the existing structure, QAC chairman Mark Taylor said.
The board was seeking a chief executive to take the commercial growth of the airport into the future.
"There is no question that the airport is now an outstanding asset for the Queenstown Lakes District community offering first class operations. The new role will ensure that the asset is optimised into the future," Mr Taylor said.
The board was looking for 'an exceptional individual' to drive the business into its next growth phase, he said.
The primary focus of the role was to identify and develop commercial opportunities.
"That includes the utilisation of land assets to meet strategic objectives and gain maximum return on investment whilst ensuring the capacity of the gateway matches demand," Mr Taylor said.
Airport operations would continue to be the responsibility of the airport?s general manager Chris Read.
"The additional capability, together with both positions continuing to work closely with the board, will ensure the future success of Queenstown Airport," Mr Taylor said.
