About the playground proposal:
The current playground at Queenstown Bay is over 22 years old and overdue a revamp.
We're a growing community with a diverse range of wants and needs. The proposed upgraded playground will be significantly bigger and include a range of equipment and natural opportunities for imaginative play, suitable for all ages and abilities, including limited mobility.
The refreshed play area will inject new life into the much loved play area, creating a premier play space and promoting a family friendly environment along Marine Parade.
Specific elements include:
- Accessible
- New surface (no more pea gravel!)
- Better compliment and interact with the natural environment, including the fallen willow tree
- Stream enhancement
Here are some examples of potential equipment you could see at the new playground:
How will we pay for it
We have included $680,000 in the Draft Annual Plan to progress the new playground and landscaping of the surrounding area.
