Proposed Easter Sunday Shop Trading Policy
This consultation has now closed.
Summary of Submissions [PDF 850KB]
Currently, most shops are not allowed to Trade on Easter Sunday due to The Shop Trading Hours Act 1990. Although there are some exemptions to this, the Shop Trading Hours Act 1990 was recently amended to allow Councils to develop a policy to allow trading on Easter Sunday Only.
We’re proposing a Local Easter Sunday Shop Trading Policy to allow shops to trade on Easter Sunday across the whole district, and want to see if the community agrees with the proposal. We invite you to read the policy and supporting documents, which outline the proposal and the reasoning and to make a submission, so we can understand if community agrees or disagrees with the proposal.
