While voting is only open to people aged 18 and over, LGNZ offers a youth voting programme to introduce year 7 - 10 students to the election process.

The LGNZ Youth Voting Programme is open to schools across New Zealand and offers a chance for students to actively participate in the election process and understand how their vote can influence final outcomes. They will get the opportunity to consider and discuss key issues, vote for candidates on real issues, and compare their results against the official election results.
