Consultation on holiday parks management

- Date:
- Apr 28, 2014
The Queenstown Lakes District Council is consulting the community on an option to enter into long-term management leases for most of its holiday parks.
Last year the Council entered into an interim Operational Management Agreement with CCR Limited to manage its Lakeview, Arrowtown, Glendhu Bay and Wanaka holiday parks. The agreement provided an option for the Council and CCR to negotiate a long-term lease or, failing an agreement by the end of July 2014, for the Council to launch a public tender process for the lease of the holiday parks.
Chief Executive Adam Feeley said, pending consultation, QLDC would begin negotiations with CCR. Because some of the land is designated a reserve, the Council would carry out formal public consultation and consider submissions before making any decisions.
“We wish to consult on the option to make arrangements for the long-term lease of the holiday parks. The intention is to improve the return to the ratepayers, provide certainty for the operators and give them an incentive to make capital improvements to the properties.”
Mr Feeley said the arrangements would not include the Frankton, Hawea or Luggate camping grounds.
Consultation commences today and closes on 3 June. For more information please go to www.qldc.govt.nz
