New Online Mapping System Now Available
- Date:
- Oct 2, 2009
A new online public mapping and property information search tool went live on the Queenstown Lakes District Council website this week.
“The Council holds large volumes of data in its Geographic Information System (GIS). This data is used to help us make better decisions about how to manage the district and its assets, QLDC GIS manager Ryan Clements said.
Possible uses of the new system could include:
- Locating and mapping properties with the Queenstown Lakes District
- Finding up to date rating information and property valuations for entire district
- Viewing the districts underground pipe information
House hunters, hikers and anglers would enjoy the new high resolution district wide aerial photography.
“The new tool will be also really useful for professionals in the valuation, real estate and engineering industries, as well as the general public,” Mr Clements said.
Combining legal property boundaries, ownership information and aerial photos would provide a unique perspective of the district.
“Many parts of the district we are seeing in high resolution for the first time. Areas like Mount Aspiring National Park look amazing. We have also recently acquired very high resolution photography of all the townships,” he said.
“I’m pleased to be able to make this available to everyone.”
A link to the new system can be found on the Council’s website via a link called Mapping/GIS.
