Call for new panelists

Date:
Oct 16, 2009

The Queenstown Lakes District Council is formally calling for nominations for new panel members for the Queenstown and Wanaka Urban Design Panels, QLDC urban design planner Nick Karlovsky said.

The Urban Design Panels were established in 2004. They consist of design professionals and community members who provide independent design advice on urban development proposals. These include both Council capital projects and private development that will have significant impact on the public realm.

“The membership of the panels is reviewed on a two yearly cycle and we are now seeking expressions of interest,” Mr Karlovsky said.

The panels included people with expertise, experience or insight in one or some of the following areas: architecture, urban design, landscape architecture and property.

It was anticipated the panel would be made up of both industry professionals and members of the community.

Nominees should be passionate about the district and its future and have a reasonable understanding of the council’s strategies, policies and the District Plan. Individuals could also register an expression of interest in a panelist position, with a given referee.

For more information or a copy of the urban design panel terms of reference people could contact the urban design panel administration officer Ruth Joiner, email ruth.joiner@qldc.govt.nz or phone 03 4501 710.

Nominations must be with the council no later than 5pm Friday October 30, 2009.
