The Queenstown Lakes District Council has today issued a boil water notice to Hawea Township residents.

“The notice was issued this morning after routine testing detected the positive presence of e- coli in Hawea Township water supply,” QLDC 3 waters manager Gerry Essenberg said.

The council recommended that residents connected to the Hawea Township water supply boil all drinking water until Sunday morning (January 18)

“Testing will continue over the next few days and contractors will be flushing the water lines to ensure any residual contamination is flushed to waste,’ Mr Essenberg said.
