Lake level update - Friday
- Date:
- May 7, 2010
Heavy rain in the Lake Wakatipu catchment may result in a small rise but it is not likely to reach the flood warning level, according to information provided by the Otago Regional Council.
“At this stage we have rain falling in Queenstown, while that may be a little unnerving for the business community, the info we have is that the lake will not rise significantly,” Queenstown Lakes District Council Mayor Clive Geddes said.
The rain is expected to ease over the next few hours. A further advisory will be issued after 1pm today.
