Lake Wakatipu has continued to rise gradually today (Monday) after this morning's rainfall, with a further rainfall in the Upper Clutha seeing Lake Wanaka on the rise again. Both lakes are expected to peak between 10pm and midnight tonight over the first flood warning level but causing no flooding issues to property or premise. The Otago Regional Council is projecting (lake level monitoring) Wakatipu could reach 311.1m which would be below the level of low lying reserve flooding at 311.3m (some spilling into low lying reserves on the foreshores of Queenstown Bay, Glenorchy and Kingston). The ORC projects Wanaka could reach 279.7 (low level flooding of reserves occurs at 280m) The rain has now stopped and river flows are reducing. The Queenstown Lakes District Council is keeping a watching brief but no further action is planned at this time.
