Preliminary results announced in QLDC triennial elections

Based on an initial preliminary result, incumbent Queenstown Lakes District mayor Jim Boult has been elected to a second term as the district’s mayor. However, results in the Queenstown-Wakatipu Ward are still very close.

Mayor Boult received 5,926 votes, ahead of challengers Nik Kiddle (3,566) and Al Angus (1,248).

Elsewhere, Quentin Smith (2,964 votes), Calum MacLeod (2,367) and Niamh (Neeve) Shaw (2,166) were elected to the Wānaka Ward. Further results included Barry Bruce (1,754), Lincoln Haworth (1,556) and Cherilyn Walthew (1,019).

The makeup of the Wānaka Community Board was also decided. It will consist of Barry Bruce (2,560 votes), Chris Hadfield (2,442), Ed Taylor (2,278) and Jude Battson (2,257). Further results included Lyal Cocks (2,074) and Barbara East (1,937).

Results in the Queenstown-Wakatipu Ward are still extremely close and are subject to change. However, the following people have been provisionally elected: Craig (Ferg) Ferguson (3,427 votes); Valerie Miller (3,046); Penny Clark (2,932); John MacDonald (2,770); Niki Gladding (2,287); Glyn Lewers (2,132).

Further results for the Queenstown-Wakatipu Ward are as follows: AJ Mason (2,130), Peter Faul (2,018), John Glover (1,981) and Grant Scannell (1,342).

The voter return was 47.02%, being 11,045 votes, excluding special votes.
