Consultation Period Extended for Speed Limits Review
- Date:
- Apr 12, 2019
Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) is extending the community consultation period on the draft Speed Limits Bylaw 2019 | Kā Ture Pae Tere 2019, and on a range of speed limit reductions proposed throughout the district.
The extended timeframe is in response to public feedback to date that has prompted us to review both the supporting information available and the level of detail in the submission process. Therefore to further inform people’s consideration of the proposals and subsequent submissions QLDC has presented the background information in a clarified format.
QLDC has also revised the online submission form in response to this feedback which will enable submitters to specify their support or opposition to individual speed proposals for each of the identified roads rather than the broader grouped proposals. All submissions made to date will still be considered however, all previous online submitters will receive an email with a link to the updated consultation material to consider whether to add to or alter their previous submission.
Consultation began Monday 11 March and was to finish this Friday 12 April followed by hearings. Consultation will now continue through until 5.00pm Monday 13 May 2019.
Everyone is encouraged to review the proposed recommendations and material provided at www.qldc.govt.nz/lets-talk or at any Council offices and take the opportunity to provide feedback on the proposals.
Two additional drop-in sessions are also planned as opportunities to talk to staff regarding the proposed recommendations. These will be held on:
