Wanaka QLDC customer-facing staff set to move back into refurbished Ardmore Street office

Over the past few months, the QLDC Wanaka office has been undergoing a series of refurbishments in order to ultimately provide the Upper Clutha community with a more streamlined Council service in a single office location.

As part of these improvements, the existing Ardmore Street office has had a layout reconfiguration and two relocatable buildings have been purchased. These will be installed behind the existing office.

QLDC Property Director Richard Pope advised that core, customer-facing services will be returning to the main Ardmore Street building on Thursday 20 December 2018 to ensure the Upper Clutha community continues to receive a one-stop shop service.

“While our initial aim was to complete all of the planned refurbishments in time for all staff to move back to Ardmore Street in early December, due to project delays, we have had to adapt our timeframe and approach”, said Mr Pope.

The Reece Crescent lease comes to an end on 31 December, so additional Wanaka staff will work temporarily at available space within the Lake Wanaka Centre until the relocatable buildings are installed and fit-out is completed.

“Since this temporary space will not be a customer-facing office, the level of service the community will receive will not be affected”, Mr Pope said.

It is now anticipated that all of the Wanaka refurbishments will be completed by the end of February 2019, following early morning deliveries of the two relocatable buildings in late December 2018.

“We are currently completing the building consent process and the dates for the relocatable delivery and project completion will be confirmed after this. We will communicate these dates as well as the resultant temporary carpark closures to the public as soon as we can,” said Mr Pope.

While the Ardmore Street carpark is closed, temporary all-day parking (8:00am-8:00pm) will be available at the Wanaka showgrounds. This will be open to the public from the start of December.

“We recognise the importance of having a presence in the Wanaka CBD and the convenience this offers to locals. So we are doing everything we can to get back as soon as possible with the least amount of disturbance to the community and surrounding businesses”.
