Events funding round now open

- Date:
- Apr 3, 2018
Event organisers have until the end of April to apply for sponsorship from the Queenstown Lakes District Council’s annual Events Fund.
The fund aims to support new events and help existing events develop in ways that will bring more economic benefit to the district. Aligned with the 2015 Events Strategy, the fund helps our District be an ‘event friendly’ location for event organisers. The fund is open to applications from event organisers large and small, with either a commercial or community focus.
QLDC Arts and Events Facilitator Jan Maxwell says funding allocated from previous funding rounds had gone to increasing the diversity of the events on offer in the Queenstown Lakes District.
“We’re very excited to be working with so many different event organisers across the district. By supporting and growing our events offering we’ll see many economic, social and cultural benefits. These grants are a solid reinvestment into this community and we’re looking forward to this year’s applications,” she said.
Organisers are encouraged to contact the QLDC events office prior to making an application.
“We want to make sure organisers are putting their best foot forward and have all of their information ready before submitting an application. That way the evaluation panel has everything it needs to make their recommendations,” Mrs Maxwell said.
Applications for amounts up to $5000 can be considered at any time during the year and the support is provided by way of “in kind” assistance with QLDC managed venues, facilities and support towards permits and consents, rather than as a cash grant.
Full information on the funding criteria and application process is on the Council’s website www.qldc.govt.nz/event-funding
Applications close on 30 April and decisions will be advised by the end of June.
