Crown Range Road now open

- Date:
- Sep 17, 2017
The Crown Range Road has reopened after contractors successfully removed the debris and made the site safe following Friday's slip.
The current MetService forecast is for snow to below summit level so drivers are strongly advised to keep chains in their vehicle if they plan to travel along this road. The alternative route between Wanaka and Queenstown is SH6 via Cromwell.
The Crown Range summit webcam is a good way to check conditions before setting off. Click the camera icon on this page to see timelapse footage: http://bit.ly/2eMfXYD
Technical problems with QLDC's email road reports today prevented our usual pre-7am report and any updates since. So please share this update with anyone for whom you think it would be useful.
Council would like to thank the public for its co-operation and patience while the road was closed, and also extend thanks to contractors Downer for working to clear the road in challenging conditions.
