Feedback sought on Ladies Mile SHA proposal

Glenpanel SHA Plan
Date:
Jul 7, 2016

QLDC has begun informal consultation on an expression of interest to establish a Special Housing Area on the Ladies Mile. The proposed location is on the opposite side of State Highway 6 to the proposed Queenstown Country Club retirement village, which has been recently approved as a Special Housing Area.

The proposal, known as the Glenpanel SHA, includes a total of 207 lots of varying sizes and densities as well as landscaped areas and cycleways.

It will be considered by the Council in early August – the date is yet to be set, but will be an extraordinary meeting because of the tight timeframes imposed by the Government.

While the Housing Accords and Special Housing Areas Act 2013 doesn’t provide for formal consultation on the establishment of special housing areas, QLDC’s elected members are interested to hear local views on the proposal and have set up a mechanism to receive and consider informal feedback before considering expressions of interest for SHAs.

Feedback closes on 5 August at 5pm.
