Fox Rock Appeal

Date:
May 2, 2005

The Queenstown Lakes District Council has resolved to appeal a number of conditions applied to the Fox Rock consent.

The resource consent for building platforms and earthworks on land neighbouring the Wanaka airport was granted by an independent commissioner

"The Council considered the matter at its full Council meeting on Friday and decided to appeal on the grounds that some of the conditions are unsatisfactory," QLDC chief executive Duncan Field said.

Council had reached the view that there was no reasonable possibility that the fundamental consent could be overturned, given the underlying rural residential zoning.

"The Council is concerned, however to ensure that the conditions protect the long term operations of Wanaka airport and the events which occur there," Mr Field said.
