A second discussion document will be sent to Albert Town residents this week with feedback and further details on a proposed Plan Change for the town Queenstown Lakes District Council Senior Policy Analyst Gemma Davis said.

The proposed Plan Change would allow for the development of land adjacent to Albert Town for low density to medium density residential sections.

The aim of the Plan Change was to provide more housing opportunities for people in the wider Wanaka area.

The Council called for comment after distributing an earlier discussion document and holding a public feedback session in April she said.

The process highlighted the need to provide more detail and to hold a second feedback session.

The second document which will also be distributed to 600 residents was an opportunity to report back on the issues raised by the first and to clarify some points raised by earlier comments.

At this stage 55 percent of those people commenting on the Plan Change were supportive 34 percent wanted the zoning to remain unchanged and 11 percent supported rezoning but preferred only low density housing Ms Davis said.

The Council encouraged residents to read the follow up document and attend a second workshop at the Albert Town Tavern on Tuesday June 13 starting at 5 30pm.

Its critical that we receive as much input from the local community as possible and that people come along to the workshop so that we can answer any questions they may have Ms Davis said.
