Councillor Backs Call for Comment
- Date:
- Jun 12, 2006
The Wakatipu community should take the opportunity to have a say on the proposed Community Centre Queenstown Lakes District Councillor Lou Alfeld said.
We had two drop in sessions two weeks ago which attracted a lot of the stakeholders and user groups but only a handful of residents and ratepayers Councillor Alfeld said.
The council had called on the community to comment on the latest designs by June 30.
This is a critical project that every single member of the community should get up to speed on We have a display in the Queenstown Council foyer of the project concept along with the report from the Urban Design Panel and a book for public comments In over a week we have attracted only two comments I find that incredible he said.
The Community Centre had received good media coverage and although a number of people were taking the opportunity to check out the plans in the council foyer few were providing any feedback to the council.
Besides being on view in the council foyer, the project could be viewed on the council website People could write to the council with their comments or send them via email.
We can only guess that if the community has nothing to say about the biggest project undertaken in the history of the council then the community is quite happy for us to progress to the next step Councillor Alfeld said.
I really urge people to take a good look at this and let us have their thoughts As a Councillor and a member of the Community Centre Working Party it would be better if we could move forward to develop a more detailed design based on community input Please within the next two weeks let us know what you think he said.
