Arrowtown Monitoring to be Explained at Meeting
- Date:
- Jul 24, 2006
The Arrowtown Village Association will host a public meeting next week to discuss new monitoring of the town?s air, Queenstown Lakes District Council Councillor John Wilson said.
"The Otago Regional Council has now implemented an air monitoring station next to the primary school. Arrowtown is the first town in our district to be monitored," Mr Wilson said.
The station had been recording data for the last three weeks and relaying it to the ORC website www.orc.govt.nz, with hourly updates.
The ORC had been invited by the Village Association to attend the public meeting, where the monitoring would be discussed.
"The early monitoring indicates that we have got a problem in Arrowtown. Pollution levels at night are particularly high," Mr Wilson said.
Mr Wilson encouraged Arrowtown residents to find out more about the monitoring by attending the meeting.
The meeting will take place at the Tennis Club Rooms on Centennial Avenue at 1.30pm on Thursday July 27.
