Call for Airport Director
- Date:
- Sep 8, 2006
Expressions of interest are being sought to fill an upcoming vacancy on the Queenstown Airport Corporation (QAC) board of directors, Queenstown Lakes District Council chief executive Duncan Field said.
Airport Corporation chairman, Mr John Davies and long standing director Mr Ian Farrant had both advised that they would not be seeking reappointment in January 2007.
"I would like to publicly pay tribute to the valued service that the community has received from both John and Ian. During their watch the airport has developed from strength to strength. In no uncertain terms it has been a job well done", Mr Field said.
It was expected that current QAC director Mr Mark Taylor would be appointed as chairperson for the balance of his term, taking effect on 1 January 2007.
"We only intend to make one appointment at the present time but may consider two depending on the outcome of the selection process", Mr Field said.
Preferred skills for candidates were financial literacy, good communication and strategic awareness. "Specialist skills will also be considered", Mr Field said.
A position statement could be downloaded from the Queenstown lakes District Council website homepage - www.qldc.govt.nz.
Expressions of interest, which should be made to Mr Field, close on Friday 6 October 2006.
