The all stars of New Zealand jazz have confirmed an electric line-up at the Queenstown International ASB Jazzfest in October.
"The cream of New Zealand's jazz talent will come together under the musical direction of the legendary Rodger Fox for an unforgettable night of jazz," festival organiser Harvey Maguire said.
Blues to Bop at the Memorial Hall on Sunday 22 October would see seven of the country's top jazz professionals "swarming" all over favourite standards, he said.
On piano, Phil Broadhurst who has won two New Zealand jazz recordings of the year and is also program leader at the New Zealand School of Music in Auckland.
"Then add a great tenor saxophonist like Brian Smith, who has a wealth of experience having toured and recorded with the great international band leader Maynard Ferguson, plus the 'A' rhythm team of Roger Sellers (drums) and Paul Dyne (bass), now that's hot," Mr Maguire said.
Joining the line-up for the one off Queenstown performance would be Lance Sua (guitar), seen on many of the backing bands on television and also a tutor at the New Zealand School of Music and vocalist Erna Ferry who has been touring with the World Blues Revue along side Robben Ford and Long John Baldry.
"Rounding out the big sound is three time New Zealand jazz recording of the year winner, trombonist and musical director Rodger Fox," Mr Maguire said.
Fox was synonymous with jazz in New Zealand having performed with some of the biggest names in the world.
"The opportunity for our community to see this calibre of performance at Queenstown may not come again. It's a concert you cannot afford to miss," Mr Maguire said.
