Open Day for Kelvin Heights this Weekend
- Date:
- Oct 25, 2006
Anyone interested in the planting and future development of the Kelvin Heights Peninsula is urged to attend an open day at the golf course on Saturday, Queenstown Lakes district Council parks manager Gordon Bailey said.
"Queenstown Golf Incorporated will host the open day, which will be an opportunity for people to hear about the planned changes and the work programme," Mr Bailey said.
An invitation had been extended to the Kelvin Peninsula Community Association and the Wakatipu Yacht Club but anyone with an interest in the area was welcome to attend, he said.
The proposal was designed to enhance the area, golf club course convenor and vice president Doug MacGillivray said.
"The club has managed the area for the last 30 years and to be fair it could have been managed a bit better. What is being proposed will make the lake more accessible to the public. It's a great area," Mr MacGillivray said.
The open day would be held at the golf course from 9.30am to 11am.
"It's a great opportunity to be able to talk through the plans with the community and get some clear understanding of the way forward," Mr Bailey said.
