Transportation Study Stage 2 Feedback Due

Date:
Jan 8, 2007

Feedback on stage 2 of a key transportation study was due at the end of the week,? Queenstown Lakes District Council Utilities general manager Mark Kunath said.

The Wakatipu study, which was being undertaken by GHD Limited, was focusing on issues in the Wakatipu Basin like public transport, state highway 6A, a parking strategy, Frankton Flats and Kelvin Heights routes and longer term location of the state highway and an alternative route into Queenstown via Gorge Road.

An information document and feedback form was prepared last month and a general information brochure widely distributed.

"All of the information, including the feedback forms, is available at the council or you can download the information on the council website www.qldc.govt.nz," Mr Kunath said.

The feedback being sought at present was only stage two of an intensive consultation process, he said.

"There will be two further stages, which will involve another round of feedback, including stage four, which will see community consultation on a preferred strategy, following signoff from the council and Transit," Mr Kunath said.

Stage three, which involved seeking feedback on the individual options identified in stage two, was expected to be undertaken during February, while stage four was scheduled to be completed by April.

Feedback on stage two was due on Friday (5 January).
