Twilight Cinema Cancelled

Logistical supply problems have seen the company proposing to run twilight cinema in conjunction with the Summerdaze Festival pull out of the event.

"Unfortunately Naughty Monkey Enterprises Limited has advised that they are not able to deliver the event because they could not get the specialist equipment delivered in time from overseas," Summerdaze co-ordinator Alastair McIlwrick said.

The outdoor movies were scheduled to be held at the gardens over five nights, beginning next week.

"Fortunately it has been the only glitch in what has been an amazing festival this year," he said.

The festival to date has included hugely popular New Year's Eve celebrations, international cricket, concerts and the Wanaka Rodeo.

"Tomorrow (Saturday) we are looking forward to the first weekly farmer's market day at Queenstown Primary School beginning at 9am, the classic Glenorchy Races and the New Zealand Rugby Sevens kick off in a week?s time on Saturday 13, January," Mr McIlwrick said.

Still to come during the month were teddy bears picnics, community fun days, violin school concerts and more.

Programmes are available at council offices or on the website www.summerdaze.net.nz.
