New initiative to promote responsible dog ownership

The Council is trialling a new initiative to promote positive dog ownership and responsibility through the use of ‘doggy doo pods’– a bag dispenser unit attached to existing rubbish bins. 

To start with the ‘doggy doo pod’ will be available at Marine Parade, Queenstown.  But if it’s a success the Council will install more dispensers along selected walkways and parks throughout the district.  

This initiative has been a combination of work by Council Animal Control and Parks staff to reduce the amount dog doo left on our walkways and parks by irresponsible dog owners. The goal is to keep our beautiful community clean and safe for everyone to enjoy!
