Remarkables Fire

A permitted rural controlled burn lost control this afternoon on Remarkables Range approximately 3km from the Remarkables Ski Area turnoff. The lead agency QLDC Rural Fire was assisted by 3 helicopters with monsoon buckets, DOC and Council contractors, and got the fire under control by 5pm. The scene will be monitored overnight. Council will be seeking cost recovery and will undertake an investigation. — Rural Fire Officer Gordon Bailey
