Signs Bylaw Hearing Date Set
- Date:
- Feb 20, 2008
The draft Signs Bylaw will be the subject of public hearings in Wanaka and Queenstown next month, CivicCorp policy planner Tim Williams said.
The aim of the district-wide bylaw, first notified in November, was to protect areas having amenity values from visual pollution and also to enable signs to provide public information with the least possible detrimental impact on landscape.
"The Council received 150 submissions relating to the bylaw, all of which will be considered by the Council," Mr Williams said.
Letters have been sent to all submitters to inform them of next month's hearings.
"The hearing enables those who made a written submission to speak in support of their submission at a public hearing," he said.
In addition, a summary of all submissions would be available from today (Monday) along with copies of all submissions received.
"Anyone can view the summary at Council and CivicCorp offices in Queenstown or Wanaka or at any library," Mr Williams said.
Submitters, wanting to speak needed to contact CivicCorp to make a time.
An issues and options paper was also being developed and would also be available prior to the hearing.
The Queenstown hearing would take place at the Council Chambers on March 16, beginning 10am, while the Wanaka hearing would take place the following day at the Edgewater Resort, also commencing at 10am.
