One Lane Access - State Highway 6A - Shotover Bridge

3 June 2008 - 3.11 pm

Work to commission an alternative pipeline to replace a leaking sewer main across the Shotover Bridge is ongoing, with traffic delays of up to five minutes expected tomorrow (Wednesday).

"Between the hours of 9am and 1pm tomorrow, we will reduce a section of road accessing Shotover Bridge to one lane traffic.  The reduced access is required so that work can occur to get the alternative sewer line up and running," Queenstown Lakes District Council acting water services manager John Porter said.

"Specifically, we're looking at the left hand lane heading out of Queenstown, just before the bridge," he said.

There was a possibility that similar delays could be expected by drivers on Thursday, June 5.

"As always, this type of work is weather dependent.  We are really appreciative of the patience shown by the community while work on the sewer main is completed," Mr Porter said.

The work was expected to be completed by Friday, June 6.
